Cleanin' out my closet...

You didn't think I would resist the opportunity to quote Eminem, did you?  In honor of the new year, I've been doing a lot of cleaning and reorganizing and am now looking to do an overhaul on both my own closet and our fashion closet at work.

Below is a collection of closet photos I've gathered over the past few months to use as inspiration.  Some of these are seriously aspirational, while others are much more practical and realistic, but either way, they each offer a little something you can take away and modify for whatever space you're working with.

I love the way some of these closets have been made a part of the decor in regular rooms of the house.  I think I want to do this with some shelving in my bedroom for shoes and bags.  After all, you spend enough money on them, might as well put them on display!

My last apartment was the size of a shoebox, but had sold me on the walk-in closet, which was still pretty tiny, but I made it work.  I decided since the rest of my space was so small, I had to make this my haven, or "boudoir", as I so fondly referred to it.

It had two randomly-placed shelves, a clothing rod on either side and no door.  These photos were taken before my blogging days, so please excuse the quality.  I wanted to share them though, to give some more ideas and inspiration for smaller spaces.  Here's what I had done...

To the right of the above photo is where my clothes hung, topped by a shelf that was stacked with a million more decorative boxes on it.  While I'm much happier with the size of my closet now, I kind of miss my little boudoir.  I loved it's charm and how everything had it's place, I think smaller spaces force you to do this more.

My tastes have definitely grown-up a bit, but looking at these photos reminds me of how special this area was to me and how much I need to incorporate these touches more in my current space.  Hopefully you'll be inspired as well!
