In New York, we love complaining about how cold it is during the winter, but as soon as the temperature gets too hot during the summer, it's right back to cry-town. As much as I wanted to avoid jumping on the weather-bashing bandwagon, it is seriously hot out there...like too hot for clothes hot! I had to do some impromptu shopping yesterday just to find pieces that are actually suitable to wear in this intense heat.
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that I'm a huge fan of separates and layering, which I tend to favor over a lone dress or sheath. However, these temperatures leave little choice for anything other than simple, loose, breathable fabrics–and dresses happen to be one of the best options. I love this look book from Bec & Bridge, with it's beachy-meets-urban vibe. Everything is relatively paired down, yet still has a fashion element to it, which is not easy to find. Below are some more heat-approved favorites that fit the bill...
from left to right: Karen Walker sunglasses, $210. Proenza Schouler tank, $138. Alexander Wang clutch, $556.
Bodkin shirtdress, $138. Costume National belt, $156. Acne shorts, $100. T by Alexander Wang dress, $114.
Reed Krakoff bag, $990. Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, $537.
