Outfit ideas to get you out of a rut

Although I'm looking forward to milking every last drop out of summer, I have to admit I've hit a bit of a wall when it comes to my summer wardrobe.  It happens every season around this time; the items in my current rotation start to feel tired, but the weather isn't quite warm/cold enough to start mixing in next season's pieces, and the clothes currently in stores are not at all inspiring.

...So that's when it's time to get creative!  Below are a few looks I came across recently that gave me ideas for how to breathe some fresh new life into my summer staples and help transition my wardrobe into fall...

I love the idea of layering a plaid flannel over a flirty summer dress!

Neon laces are a fun way to make your fall boots look more summer appropriate.

I never thought to use a romper for layering, but this collared version lends itself perfectly!

  2. Absolutely fantastic ideas. You should do an article or posting on the top five, ten or whatever 'essential pieces' that a girl should have in her wardrobe that you can incorporate into all of the seasons. Like the lightweight military green jacket. It works on so many levels. I love your blog :)
